Listserve and The Unicorn - Part One

What is intended, and what will be absorbed will follow soon, though organization of the material is difficult enough. As a reminder, this is not a PRO or ANTI anything site. It's information. All is available if you look hard enough, but who wants to waste time on a 70 year old stuffed in a PA state cage for life? Ira and the stories surrounding his case must continue to be passed around and the AIE blog is vying to be part of keeping the information alive. As long as Ira is alive this information will continue to grow, and even in death will the investigations continue with enough help from insiders. The information is taken from old listserve discussions as they may or may not relate to the case. The information will be broken down a few different ways, so here is the introduction....

"CityPaper...Uncle Sam is the ultimate pusher -- Ira Einhorn was right!"

From March, 2000

Since the early 1970's when he brought information to the Pennsylvania State Attorney General showing CIA complicity on a massive scale in the illegal drug trade, now a fugitive, Ira Einhorn has been trying to expose this CIA-mafia drugtrade 50year ongoing alliance that other researchers now believe accounts for 80-90% of the illegal drugs coming into the US totaling $200-250 billion per year in laundered profits multiplied in offshore banking low interest loans to Wall Street businesses to fuel mergers and profits with low cost capital while funding to a large extent both Democratic and Republican party candidates who have been corrupted by this money and complicit in this CIA drug trade to the highest levels including Clinton and Bush.

Now [back in 2000; currently Ira is in Houzdale, PA -- editor] in France under temporary protection of the French government, Einhorn has consistently maintained he was framed for the 1979 murder of his ex-girlfriend Holly Maddux ("The Unicorn Killer" TV psychodrama series) to silence his effective activism on social and environmental justice issues, on covert development of advanced electromagnetic weaponry, mind control, and other secret military systems possibly connected to reverse engineering of US and other governments' acquisition of crashed UFO's, etc. Recently President Clinton himself has contacted the French government pushing for Einhorn's extradition to face his life sentence meted out after an unconstitutional in-absentia trial authorized by special Pennsylvania legislation. Spearheading the extradition campaign assisted by the rabid Philly tabloid writers, Philly DA Lynne Abrahams fraudulently claims Einhorn will receive a new trial, which she knows is patently unconstitutional also, in order to bait the French government to acquiesce to Einhorn's extradition.

Einhorn Map

Ira cherished freedom. So his pals weren't surprised he fled

Barbara Beck
Daily News Staff Writer

After they found his girlfriend's decomposed body in a steamer trunk, it was little surprise to those who knew Ira Einhorn that he chose freedom over the prospect of life in jail.

For Ira was a generation's symbol of freedom, a "free-thinker" who clung to his 1960s image as Philadelphia's most celebrated counterculture leader.

Those caught unprepared by Einhorn's disappearance in December 1981 - a month before he faced a court hearing for the 1977 murder of Helen "Holly" Maddux - were members of the legal system that allowed him to run free after posting $40,000 bail, along with a host of agencies that have been trying to find him ever since.

The 47-year-old Einhorn has outsmarted the Philadelphia district attorney's office, the FBI, the International Police Agency (Interpol) and law enforcement agents from a dozen countries who have chased his cold, confusing trail.

And now Steven Levy, a free-lance writer who grew up in Philadelphia, joins the search for the elusive Einhorn. Levy has reconstructed the crime and portrayed Einhorn as a troubled, violence-prone man in a new book called "The Unicorn's Secret: Murder in the Age of Aquarius," to be published this month by Prentice-Hall.

Many well-known Philadelphians are mentioned in this painful tale about the self-styled New Age guru, including Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., who represented Einhorn at his bail hearing.

Einhorn originally thought he would use Bernard Segal, an expert criminal lawyer who, before he moved to California, was one of Philadelphia's best- known attorneys. However, by the time of the hearing, Einhorn had hired Specter, then a private citizen, who had served two terms as Philadelphia's district attorney. Specter was eventually replaced by Philadelphia attorney Norris Gelman because, writes Levy, Einhorn could not afford Specter's high fees.

Specter refused to comment to the Daily News on Einhorn until he saw a copy of Levy's book.

Nevertheless, here is what other prominent Philadelphians remember about accused murderer Ira Einhorn.

MICHAEL CHITWOOD. A former homicide detective with the Philadelphia Police Department, he was the first to arrive at Einhorn's Powelton Village apartment with a search warrant. Chitwood is now chief of police in Portland, Maine.

"There's no doubt in my mind that Ira did it. It's unfortunate that the city's court system let him out on bail. You knew there was no way in the world that he was going to jail . . . Look, once you read the probable cause that was contained in the search warrant, there was no doubt in your mind that he did it. God, the warrant read like an Alfred Hitchcock story."

NORRIS GELMAN. A former assistant district attorney, he became Einhorn's lawyer. Gelman recently defended Cyril "Tony" Brown, the man accused of helping "House of Horrors" slayer Gary Michael Heidnik.

"The last time I saw Ira was a couple of weeks before he was due to go to trial. This is not an open-and-shut case. There's real doubt here . . . If Ira returned to the United States, I think he would retain me in the case."

BARBARA CHRISTIE. An assistant district attorney, she was assigned to the Einhorn case. Levy describes her as "the most aggressive prosecutor in the district attorney's office, a workaholic bantamweight black woman . . ." Although Christie is not black, the rest of the description is accurate.

"When was the last time I saw Ira? Well, he hasn't sent me a Christmas card - nothing. He just doesn't keep in touch anymore. But I have every hope and expectation that he will be caught and brought to trial very soon."

WILLIAM MARUTANI. A respected former Philadelphia judge, he now practices law. He presided over Einhorn's bail hearing.

"I don't think it would have made any difference if the bail was $40,000 or $400,000. As I remember, his mother put up her house for security. So a man like that is not going to worry whether there's an extra zero behind it . . .

"Is he guilty? You wonder how many people have bodies lying in a trunk in their homes. I said to him at the hearing that it's not as though someone else committed the offense. It's not akin to someone coming to your apartment and dropping a glove. We have a body in the trunk . . .

"I have very little doubt that one of these days he will be caught. The odds are overwhelming against him. People will not give up. And by his fleeing, he has admitted his guilt. I dare say that Mr. Einhorn is not living peacefully. He is always looking over his shoulder. In a real way, he is already in jail."

JUDY WICKS. Waitress at and later manager of La Terrasse, the former University City restaurant where Einhorn spent much of his time, she now owns the White Dog Cafe.

"I feel fairly certain that he did murder Holly. He destroyed Holly, a wonderful person and, in turn, himself. There's no way you can forgive someone for that. I think Ira was deeply in love with Holly so he couldn't stand to lose her. His relationship was simply one of possessing her. He couldn't stand the idea that she would be free from him. He didn't want her to live if he couldn't possess her. Look at the fact that he kept the body right there in the house . . .

"The last time I saw him was at his bail hearing. I testified in his defense that he had always paid his bills on time . . . The thought of running into him now petrifies me. I would just be horrified."

STEPHEN J. HARMELIN. A partner in the law firm of Dilworth, Paxson, Kalish and Kauffman, he had known Einhorn since high school.

"I'm hurt that he didn't stand trial. By leaving, he not only disappointed his friends, he hurt his family. A lot of people had vested a lot of confidence in him and he didn't repay that . . .

"He never espoused violence. He was quite to the contrary. There was no reason to feel that he was doing anything other than following a different style of life. If he walked into my office now, I'd ask him to sit down, and then I'd call the district attorney's office. I'd have him arrested because he's a felon. And then I hope he'd get a fair trial."

HARRY J. KATZ. Now the owner of Hesch's restaurant, he hired Einhorn to write book reviews for Katz's weekly alternative newspaper, "Electricity."

"I feel badly for his mother, who is really a wonderful lady. I miss Ira. I liked him.

"The last time I saw Ira was two days before he left. I told him to leave the country. There was a computer show at the Civic Center and Ira went with me to look at them.

"We ate dinner outdoors because he smelled so badly. I refused to let him eat inside. I knew he was leaving because he was scared to death. He had cut his hair fairly short. And I said to him, why did you do that? Norris (Gelman, Einhorn's lawyer) suggested it . . .

"I'm glad that he left. Maybe he was guilty. I don't know."

ABBIE HOFFMAN. One of the '60s counterculture stars Einhorn cultivated, he now lives in the Philadelphia area.

"I briefly knew him. He arranged a talk for me at Rittenhouse Square - I can't remember the date - but it was an anti-war rally. That was probably the last time I saw him."

THACHER LONGSTRETH. Now a Republican city councilman, as head of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce he helped convince local businesses to cooperate with Einhorn's Earth Week project.

"I saw quite a lot of Ira during the Earth Week period and at the time I was so struck how stimulating, interesting and intelligent he was. In fact, I continued to see him regularly after that because I enjoyed talking to him. He was very articulate."

FRANK RIZZO, the former mayor and police chief.

"I saw Ira around. He was a bit of a flake. You never paid too much attention to him. He was one of those radicals who never struck me as being particularly dangerous."

Radio Interview Request from 2000, right before unconstitutional retrial

-----Original Message-----
From: Marty Moss-Coane
To: DC and Ira
Date: Friday, March 10, 2000 10:34 AM
Subject: Interview with Ira Einhorn

Dear Mr. Williams:
We appreciate your willingness to forward the following message to Mr. Einhorn:

Dear Mr. Einhorn:

On Wednesday, March 15 during the 10-11AM hour of Radio Times, our guests will be DA Lynne Abraham and Philadelphia Inquirer reporter Daniel Rubin. Our intent is to revisit your case and to discuss current developments.

Would you be willing to do a 10 minute interview to open the show. My questions will be limited to the specifics of your case.

Thank you for your consideration.

Marty Moss Coane
Radio Times
WHYY-FM

[DC and Ira's response to...]

Marty,

I got an email yesterday from Ira Einhorn in response to your forwarded
interview request.

I understand that he will be having someone contact you directly to make
appropriate arrangements.

As far as your indicated purview for the interview you seek, I would suggest that one of the most important and significant specifics of his case at this point, in addition to the points of evidence already part of the record in court procedings and how Einhorn might address these points on the radio, is the contention by the DA that her "guarantee" of a new trial is legally viable as fulfillment of one of the French authorities' extadition conditions, in spite of the contention by independent legal scholars that such a new trial is not legally possible, at least without a definitive ruling on that point by an appropriate judicial authority perhaps even at the level of the US Supreme Court.

For a qualified legal opinion on why such offer/commitment/guarantee by the DA without such judicial concurrence in writing would be a violation of the US Constitution's separation of powers doctrine you can obtain from Ira's attorney there a copy of the sworn affidavit dated November 27, 1998, John W. Packel, then Chief of the Appeals Division of the Philadelphia Public Defender Office who had held that position as of then for 30 years practicing criminal law in Philadelphia. Certainly the Philadelphia DA has seen this document already whose closing line regarding the DA's "guarantee" of a new trial is, "The District Attorney's claim is, at the least, unsupportable and disingenuous". In this affidavit Mr. Packel cites legal authorities and precedents, court decisions, etc., to support his statement that "Frankly, I am appalled, but not surprised, by the District Attorney's [Abraham] 'guarantee' which refers to the statute granting a new trial but makes no reference whatsoever to the controlling decisions of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court unequivocally holding that any such statute is invalid." He goes on to criticize that "...the District Attorney ignores, making absolutely no reference to, clear and compelling authority establishing that the statute it drafted is unconstitutional, unenforceable and invalid." He also says that "I do not believe the District Attorney's 'guarantees' and I do not believe that these 'guarantees' are honestly made", and that "In the light of any real consideration the District Attorney's 'guarantee' must be dismissed as, at the least, misleading".

This point seems to have been the main focus and purpose of the recent press conference in France and was addressed in detail by Einhorn's attorneys there, yet the essence of this position was not apparently reported at all by the media. If your radio show can bring up this point and reference the elements of that brief for the DA to address on the air, you may be able to make a significant contribution to resolving that glitch in the extradition procedings if the DA's position is correct, or to expose her offer/commitment as illegal and a knowing sham if, as some contend, indeed it is.

Personally, I think this is the only one of the conditions for extradition that remains at issue since, in spite of the media hype so far, I think all parties agree that the death penalty nonapplication provision controversy is moot because the crime for which he was convicted took place in a time frame before the death penalty law was passed.

If you really want to help further clearer understanding of the status of this case I suggest that you specifically and carefully address this point on the radio with the DA and with Ira or whoever he asks to contact you regarding taking part in your radio interview on March 15.
It is a shame that the misconduct of the Philadelphia District Attorney's office and its incompetence and dishonesty in this matter is preventing justice being served in this case.

Nayer Post

Wonderfully environmental Nayer posted this with little explaination besides its title "The Death of Physics". It takes us on an amazing romp around via Ira in a voice that we wish was still blistering today. But the big guns behind closed doors won't let it happen. Is there anyone out there besides Rush Limbaugh and Steven Levy willing to argue this? Since reading Levy's Unicorn's Secret I've been inspired to continue forth in the research. More on that story coming soon... in the meanwhile enjoy this piece and for more, have a visit to the site Nayer used to maintain for the Jewnicorn -

The Death of Physics

“Soon after the publication of Structure, Kuhn received a letter from Ira Einhorn, a 24 year-old English instructor at Temple University, in Philadelphia. ‘A book such as yours,’ Einhorn began, ‘makes one realize that there are still a few bright lights burning in the wasteland of modern Humanistic thought.’ Einhorn’s 4 page letter continued: ‘A few books are leading the men of thought to accept the consequences of the revolution started by Nietzsche and continued by modern art and science – your book must be placed in the forefront.’ Einhorn also offered suggestions for Kuhn’s future investigations.

Kuhn replied that Einhorn’s letter was ‘by all odds the most perceptive response I have yet received to my book, and it helped my morale immeasurably.’

‘For what it is worth,’ Kuhn continued, ‘I thoroughly agree that the concept of ‘paradigm’ needs all sorts of additional work. I began to se vaguely how some of it must be done, but though I firmly intend to get on with it, I have not yet got clear ideas, much less publishable work on the subject. When there is some, I shall do my best to make sure that you see it.’ Kuhn (who was writing to Einhorn from Berkeley) suggested that they get together when he reached the East coast: and they did.”

Keay Davidson, letter, 10/14/2005 [editor's note: Thinking the following is a letter to Keay Davidson]

Philip Coppens has dealt most directly with an aspect of my life that 1000s of articles have neglected and so-called friends have refused to speak about, for the taint of pariah might rub off.

The cowardice of those refusing to speak even the simple truth of my network activity has made me aware that I live in a country that has lost its soul, for so many have lied or just remained silent out of fear of association, though anyone with an overview of the tangled web of my relationship to most would say: they owed him a few.

But forgetting is foremost in this country devoted to celebrity and TV sports.

Certainly information wants to be free and wants to be circulated, for unlike soap it does not degrade when others use it, for it does not live under the aegis of the second law of thermodynamics, though how it functions and its law are just as opaque today as they were 40 years ago when I realised that information was more powerful than money and set out to prove such an assertion by living a life dedicated to information not money.

By 1979, when the powers that be decided to cut short my experiment, I was surrounded by the most intelligent people on the planet and had access to scads of the wealthy and powerful.

The network I created to service an end: paradigm change, had grown out of all proportion to its original intent: a theory group to aid those working on the data that Uri Geller was generating in the lab.

Work that I had first seen in Andrija Puharich’s Beyond Telepathy. It is a book that heralds a yet to be achieved change. I convinced my Doubleday editor and now dead friend Bill Whitehead to republish it along with Andrija Puharich’s first book: The Sacred Mushroom.

It is the seminal book in a still outré area of human knowledge, now including the quest for consciousness, that physics refuses to acknowledge, continuing to build ever more expensive matter smashers, though the future was offered to the discipline on a plate or should I say a spoon.

That failure has reduced it to a minor layer in the knowledge arena, for the excitement, genius and the money has gone elsewhere and the house of cards called string theory appears to be the Iraq of physics.

I’m an oceanic intuitive able to espy the entire whale from a tooth, but unlike most oceanic intuitives, I hack up my vision with extensive reading and consultation, so when I envisioned the environmental disaster, now unfolding before our eyes, in 1971 I began to think about how to bring about a massive paradigm shift – something I had been discussing with Tom Kuhn since our first meeting.

When Andrija Puharich tumbled into my life with Uri in tow, soon after, I immediately shifted my energies in that direction, much to the consternation of most of my ecological friends who didn’t understand.

I still lectured extensively on ecology but my focus had shifted for I saw that physics and Uri equalled a paradigm change that would rival Copernicus, opening up technological possibilities that would solve our energy/pollution problem.

Andrija and I began spending more time together, talking through many nights; Ossining became a second home. Ed Mitchell had been promised mucho dinero that never materialized, but he did help finance the SRI work that freaked the intelligence community when Uri turned out to be real and to be able to wipe computer screens.

Disinformation took over; a full spectrum of doubters arose as wiping computer screens implied that nukes would not function. [Editor's note: If you don't know the story I'm thinking...]

The entire tale should be told one day, as an object lesson for social change agents.

Suffice it to say that Uri did his very potent demos for enough top people to produce data that should have changed physics, but the doubters also freaked and letters (some begging) were written that if published, even today, would shock.

I always played fair witness, so my desk became a mare’s nest of explosive information, I found hard to believe.

Uri got tired of being disbelieved.

The story was very powerful, so I put Andrija under house arrest, took over the phone and the mail, held visits to a minimum (we were constantly briefing a host of heavies) and put a pen in his hand.

What emerged was a tale that dwarfed the wildest of sci-fi novels for Uri had put Andrija back into contact with forces whose strange effects were an integral part of our context, but to me were secondary to the paradigm change that I saw as totally necessary for species survival. Andrija, however, had been taken over by the need to save the world, so the forces became his focus, even after Bill Whitehead and I cut the book in half. Andrija was adamant, so Bill and I gave in, as it was Andrija’s tale, I had seen much to confirm the phenomenal side of the tale and the public agreed: Uri was an international bestseller.

But scientists freaked and Andrija became a laughing stock as I found out the next time I was in London and went to see Arthur Koestler with whom I had become quite friendly. His upset communicated deeply, making me aware that a phase of the work was over.

The question of why Andrija suddenly sabotaged his life’s work is complex. We had been warned and spied upon – that is not at issue.

It is also clear to me that Andrija had been taken over by a series of experiences that had become his truth and his telling of that truth was as integral to his on-going survival as was Leary’s relationship to LSD or McKenna’s to DMT.

I had seen it with LSD and wit so many who shaved their heads or started to wear orange: it was a conversion experience and had to damp itself out.

Yet upon deep reconsideration of The Stargate Conundrum, there is obviously more to the story.

The network continued in much enhanced form spreading out to 28 countries including a number that were behind the Iron Curtain.

Tesla, mind control, P.K. Dick and psychotronic weapons became my daily bread (not nourishing). I found myself courted by intel from both sides and given explosive information that few were capable of evaluating. Information I shared with almost no-one.

In the midst of all this Holly Maddux disappeared. I mourned for months and got deeper into matters that required more backup than I had.

The Rockefeller circle tried to recruit me directly, but public office was not of interest and I was too busy to give it even a second thought.

Then the Institute of Politics – a Kennedy organization – located at Harvard – offered me a position.

I spent three months meeting the people who run our politics and being courted by the CIA.
I was asked by the Prince of Iran (the shah’s nephew) to run his soon to be established satellite network; I refused for political reasons.

I went off to Yugoslavia and found myself (in retrospect) in the middle of a complex cold war game, though Tesla was my focus.

I was asked to help write and act in a high level soap about the gods. Omni began a major interview. Etc. Then my first life ended.

Wow - don't be so quick to believe Levy's rendering. Since when does everyone listen to the man? Now. Now. Now. Now is no time to not fuck with authority.

Earth Rising ? The Revolution: Toward a Thousand Years of Peace

ISBN: 1-890693-43-X 5.5"x8.5"

By Dr. Nick Begich and James Roderick

Earth Rising ? The Revolution: Toward a Thousand Years of Peace is about technology and its impact on humanity. This book is about the basis of freedom, human dignity, sovereign individuality and self-determination. The material will be shocking to all. This is an exposé on technological advances which may reshape the destiny of mankind in the next millennium. This book covers a number of separate areas with extensive documentation from government, academic and major media reports including:

o The Revolution in Military Affairs and its impact on freedom.
o Mind control and the manipulation of human health through the use of drugs, electromagnetic weapons and other means.
o Non-lethal weapons and their use and impact on people.

o Environmental and weather control.
o New technologies which will virtually eliminate privacy from the world scene.
o Militarization of law enforcement around the country.
o The HAARP story is updated, showing additional evidence of the military's plans to manipulate the environment.

The book concludes with solutions that could be initiated in the next few years which could change the implications of these technologies from negative to positive. This book carries a message about our humanity and our reach toward higher purposes.

We are spirit, energy, atoms, molecules, chemicals, cells, body organs and components and then we are body. These new technologies attack the very essence of who we are ? they attack the very foundation of our being by wounding the human spirit.

The computer problems which have captured the attention of the world as we leave this millennium have made us all question technology and its impact on the world. We will not know the results for a few weeks of what the transition means and it is not the subject of this book ? technology is the subject. In each potential disaster there are even greater possibilities for solutions which redeem the human spirit and will help propel us into the next century. This book is about those solutions.

Dear Friends,

This book will generate incredible debate. During the last five years I have had the opportunity to travel to over twenty countries lecturing in the areas of science, technology and the environment. We have been guests on hundreds of radio programs for our earlier work on HAARP and other subjects. Our newest book represents the best of our research materials and will awaken even the most skeptical. We look forward to great interviews and getting this information out. I am sure you will be pleased with the well referenced and extraordinary material.

We are announcing my newest book, Earth Rising - The Revolution: Toward a Thousand Years of Peace. This book is the most extensive written work on new weapons technology, technologies which impact the environment and privacy issues and technologies which can change the very way we think. This book by Dr. Nick Begich with researcher and co-author James Roderick not only proves the existence of these technologies with its extensive documentation but, more importantly, raises the moral, ethical and legal questions which must form the foundation of the public debate that this book will ignite.

The book will begin shipping from our warehouse in early January. In the mean time, if you are interested in this topic, we can provide some additional information in advance of release or a review copy when released. Please let us know. The printer has advised is to expect the book at the end of the first week in January.

The Earthpulse Institute. Over the last ten years Earthpulse has grown from a small, quiet research group to a quickly expanding publishing and news organization. Our desire has been to invigorate discussion and develop solutions to some of the problems we see around us. We have had a great
beginning in achieving success in several projects and have much waiting to be completed. Our effort started from the point of personal curiosity leading to early publishing successes. We believed that an activist publisher could make a difference. We are forming the Earthpulse Institute for the purpose of
initiating a number of research projects in science, health, technology and politics.

The first significant project is to finish cataloging over 4000 documents on new technologies, scanning the documents and providing the research base to political leaders, organizations and researchers needing this material in order to solve the problems related to the technologies. Our past successes in
our areas of activism are at a turning point, with this new title encapsulating our work over the last ten years.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Always In Service,

Dr. Nick Begich
